TEACHERS - here's a fun lesson idea kids will enjoy and remember. Use the Alberti Bass Pattern to harmonize Beethoven's "Ode to Joy". Using the pattern, Bottom-Top-Middle-Top, students will readily identify/hear the chord tones. Change chord tones in the harmony every measure to create the harmony part for 'Ode to Joy'. In C Major: C - G - E - G/ C - G - E - G/ C Then transpose to other keys. Simple, effective, and fun to do!
